Britons Holiday Habits

It’s February already, where did January go? For those of us who haven’t even thought about a holiday this year, there are many other Brits who have!

Here’s some interesting facts and figures about our holiday habits, according to ABTA Holiday Habits Report 2017:

Britons took on average 3.8 holidays per person in 2017 - 2.1 Holidays in the UK + 1.7 Holidays abroad.

Top 10 Types of Holidays Taken in the past 12 months:

1. City breaks

2. A beach holiday

3. A countryside break

4. An all-inclusive holiday

5. A trip to see a music event

6. A trip to lakes and mountains

7. Renting a private home (or a home swap, home stay, couch surfing)

8. An activity holiday (or sporting holiday (walking, cycling, sailing, trekking))

9. A cruise

10. A coach holiday

When it comes to the types of holidays people are planning, city breaks, beach holidays and countryside breaks look set to top holidaymakers’ lists in 2018.

UK looks set to be the most popular destination overall for holidays next year with two thirds (66%) planning a UK break, suggesting that domestic holidays will continue their positive trend.
